Diagnosis

There is no single diagnostic test to confirm ALS. Clinical diagnosis is made from a combination of the following:

• Neurological exam
• History
• EMG/NCV
• Blood work to rule out other causes
• Sometimes muscle biopsy and lumbar puncture are performed
